Twisted Metaphor: Remake is a limited edition of 20 giclée prints.
Originally conceived in response to Thomas Gunn’s poem The Corridor, this work extends Dean’s longstanding concerns with the image, and with framing and reframing. Continuing her engagement with narrative, technology and the unknown, the composition draws on images sourced from diverse historical and cultural contexts, accessed through public-domain archives online. By simultaneously flattening, deepening, compressing, extruding and expanding the original painting, Dean reworks it as a limited edition, hand-cut, flexible, framed print—an enquiry into processes of making, and of being made. Each print is signed and numbered by the artist.
